I have always been fond of the ritualistic nature of self care. When we decide to carve out a chunk of time to dedicate to ourselves, there is something empowering and deeply sacred about that. Whether it’s journaling, taking a bath, stretching or reading before bed, I am a huge advocate for actively practicing how to fill up our own cups. The more we respond to these intuitive pulls, these callings, the stronger our relationship grows to our own selves.
To me, the relationship we have with ourselves is the most important. If our connection to ourselves is neglected we become codependent and are constantly seeking outside forces to fill our voids. We lose grip of our ability to be responsible for ourselves. I am in full support of self sustainability so that the power remains in our own hands. If we learn how to lift our own spirits and fulfil our own needs we can count on the wisdom we have to live a life filled with vitality.
Slowing down to take a nurturing pause leaves a far more profound impact than we even realize. Every single time we listen and respond to what our body and soul’s needs are, we anchor in our worthiness. When our self worth is being tended to there is a ripple effect in which our confidence is strengthened, and self empowerment becomes the nutrients of our days. We have the capacity to be our own source of medicine. That, my friends, is what Self Care In Resonance is all about.
When I first started making bath salt creations, it was for the mere joy of putting together gift packages for friends and family. The ironic part is that I lived in a home that didn’t have a bathtub and slightly envied those who did. Perhaps, subconsciously, this was a way for me to live vicariously through them.
I became deeply immersed in the process of exploring various essential oils, researching and intuitively blending whichever ones I thought would go nicely together. Smelling and adding. Pouring and mixing. I absolutely loved the process. Recycling old dried flowers and petals was also pleasurable for me as these were often gifts that had been passed along to me. There were so many qualities of this process that tickled my heart and invigorated my senses. Needless to say, my passion for these creations grew expansively over time. I knew I would be implementing a call to action for my friends and family to put time aside for themselves while, simultaneously, offering an opportunity for them to relish in the relaxation of a hot bath.
I guess you could say, the intention for these creations was far more deep rooted than I even knew. Once this realization came to light, I embraced my initiation for self care and weaved this idea with my expressive arts therapy work, In Resonance.
Being in resonance with our own self care requires a significant amount of sensitivity, integrity, and deep listening; a quality of listening where we are able to listen with our whole selves to determine what it is that we need in the moment.
It is my ultimate mission to not only help others tend to their self love, but to also provide products that, essentially, initiate an act of self care.
